BUIES CREEK, N.C.-Campbell's Brandon Chandler and Steth Monroe, both senior defensive backs, have been named to Phil Steele's Preseason All-Pioneer Football League First Team.

Chandler, a Second Team All-PFL selection in 2011 and two-time All-Conference Honorable Mention honoree, totaled 50 tackles for the season with 1.5 stops for loss and a sack. The senior also forced three fumbles, grabbed two interceptions, returning one for a touchdown, and broke up four passes.

The senior defensive back added 28 kick returns for 577 yards and a 20.6 average, 12 punt returns for 143 yards and the team with 814 all purpose yards. Chandler also earned PFL Defensive Player of the Week accolades and earned an Honorable Mention from the CFPA after intercepting two passes and adding three tackles in a win at Marist.

Monroe earned Honorable Mention All-Pioneer Football League honors in 2011, and was named to the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) preseason Defensive Back Award watch list in June. The senior led the league with 15 passes defensed last season, adding four interceptions, good for second in the league. Monroe also recorded 4.5 tackles per game to rank among his position's leaders in the category.
