Football Joins up with Fayetteville-Cumberland County Parks & Recreation Buddy Program
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.-Several Campbell players along with head coach Dale Steele joined the Fayetteville-Cumberland County Parks and Recreation Department on Saturday for its Buddy Football Program.
Buddy Football is a sport for kids with disabilities, played following the basic rules of flag football, but includes the help of a buddy. Buddies play alongside an athlete as their guide and assistant, offering as much assistance as needed. The sport is open to children with varying degrees of abilities and therefore, the role of the buddy is varied.
Camels were on site at Arnette Park in Fayetteville, N.C. Saturday morning, and were paired with their buddies for the day.
At 10 a.m., participating children with their buddies, split into two teams, the Panthers and the Eagles, playing an hour long game together. An awards ceremony followed.
