Under the guidance of coach Lisa Stewart, Campbell University's cheerleading team is one of the most visible members of the Fighting Camel athletics family.

Now in her fourth year in charge of the program, Stewart has built a team that not only demonstrates a high quality performance at Campbell football and basketball games, but is visible throughout the community in appearances and service projects.

The 2009-10 cheerleading team won the Camels CARE banner as the varsity program with the highest number of community service hours per team member.

In addition to her duties at Campbell, Stewart has nearly two decades of experience in the education field.  She served 14 years as a physical education teacher at Erwin Middle and Triton High School before moving to Coats-Erwin Middle, where she spent five years as a school counselor.

Now school counselor at Harnett Central High School, Stewart spent three years as cheerleading coaching at Erwin Middle and eight in the same capacity at Triton.  Under her guidance, her cheerleading teams won the 2002 NCCCA High School state championship, the 2003 NCHSAA state title, six conference crowns and three, sixth-place finishes in national competition in Atlanta and Jacksonville, Fla.

Selected five times as conference cheerleading coach of the year, Stewart also coached basketball, softball, volleyball, golf and track in the public schools.

A graduate of Meredith College with a B.A. in sociology and minor in physical education with a concentration in fitness, Stewart earned her teaching certification from East Carolina University.

She also earned her master's of education in school counseling from Campbell.

Stewart is a member of the Buies Creek Elementary School Planning Committee, Alpha Delta Kappa teaching sorority and Buies Creek Recreation Board of Directors.

She resides in Buies Creek and attends Memorial Baptist Church with her six-year-old son Hayden, who is in first grade at Buies Creek Elementary School.
