BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell will take the field for the first time in 2014 on Saturday, Feb. 15, hosting La Salle at 3 p.m. at Jim Perry Stadium. The series will conclude with a noon doubleheader on Sunday.

The series was originally scheduled to begin on Friday at 3 p.m. but were altered due to winter weather.

The Camels will take the field in 2014 after back to back 40-win seasons. Campbell went 49-10 in a record-setting campaign in 2013.

Returning for his seventh season as head coach at CU, Greg Goff has led the Camels to 90 wins over the last two seasons, posting the school's first pair of 40-win campaigns, winning the Big South's North Division title and finishing as the conference's tournament runner-up in 2013. The team was ranked nationally for the majority of the season, climbing as high as No. 23 nationally.

Nine Camels were named All-Big South in 2013, including Big South Pitcher of the Year Ryan Thompson. Goff was also the unanimous Big South Coach of the Year.

Thompson, who returns for his senior season, led the nation with a Campbell and Big South record 0.88 ERA, adding a 9-1 record and 10 saves. The righty was named All-America by multiple outlets, and has been tabbed preseason All-America by the Sporting News, Louisville Slugger and the NCBWA, in addition to preseason Big South Pitcher of the Year.

Senior third baseman Elijah Trail, a 2013 First Team All-Big South performer, hit .260 with 51 RBI, 39 runs scored, 13 doubles, seven home runs and stealing nine bases. The Camels also return 2013 Second Team All-Big South selections Heath Bowers and Clayton Brown.

Bowers, a junior right-handed pitcher, went 9-0 with a 1.69 ERA, while Brown, a senior outfielder, hit a team-high .427 with 24 runs scored and 19 RBI.

La Salle finished 24-29 overall last season, going 15-9 in Atlantic 10 play, good for sixth in the league. The Explorers return top sluggers Mark Williams, an All-Big 5 selection, and Joey Ravert, an A-10 All-Rookie pick from a season ago. Williams hit .308 with 29 RBI and 26 runs scored, while Ravert notched a .310 clip with 19 batted in.

Shane Hollman and Shawn O'Neill, who both tallied 15 appearances on the mound in 2013, combined to go 8-11. Hollman, a redshirt junior righthander, posted a 4.57 ERA with 49 strikeouts, while O'Neill, a redshirt senior lefty, gathered a 6.39 ERA with 40 punchouts.

After the opening weekend series, Campbell will head to East Carolina on Tues., Feb. 18, taking on the Pirates at 4 p.m.
