No. 29 Camels Defeat Rider 14-6

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Ben McQuown scored four runs and Michael Felton knocked in six as No. 29 Campbell defeated visiting Rider 14-6 Tuesday at Jim Perry Stadium.

The Camels move to 17-3 on the season and 13-1 at home while Rider falls to 8-7 overall. The series will conclude tomorrow with a 6 p.m. single game at Jim Perry Stadium.

McQuown went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI while Felton drove in six on a 2-for-2 effort, adding two sacrifice flies. Elijah Trail knocked in three and scored a run, recording his first triple of the year, while Brent Graham scored two and posted two RBI.

Jesse Simmons and Clayton Brown also scored three runs and registered two hits each in the win. David Olson, meanwhile, drove in one and Ben Fish scored once. Olson and Fish both recorded 1-for-4 nights in the win.

Hector Cedano earned the win to move to 4-1 on the season, pitching three innings with two hits, three strikeouts and a walk. Freshman Trevor Lane pitched two frames in relief, allowing two unearned runs on two hits with a pair of walks and a punchout.

Ryan Koopman struck out two and walked two in 1 2/3 and Coley Thompkins pitched 2/3 of an inning. Paul Eyster surrendered a single in the ninth and struck out one in his only inning.

Joe Calogero took the loss, falling to 0-1 on the season, allowing seven runs, all earned, on seven hits with a walk in two innings.

The Camels return to Big South play next weekend at UNC Asheville, March 22-24.
