BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell hit two home runs and never trailed as it defeated Fairleigh Dickinson 15-5 on 16 hits Friday at Jim Perry Stadium. Senior duo Brent Graham and Ben McQuown each knocked a homer to left field and combined for 10 RBI as the Camels improved to 11-2 on the year.
Graham notched his first home run of the season in the third inning to bring in Clayton Brown and McQuown, making the score 10-2 in favor of the Camels. He finished with a team-leading six RBI on three at-bats.
McQuown earned his nation-leading 19th stolen base of the year as he batted 2-2 with a two-RBI homer in the fifth. He brought in Brown as CU increased their lead to 12-2. McQuown's final statistics included three runs with four RBI.
Junior Matt Marksberry picked up his third win of the season, going six innings, striking out eight Knights with two runs, both earned, on three hits.
Five Knights scored one run apiece on six hits. John Giakis led FDU with two hits, one RBI and one run.
Craig Warner fell to 0-2 on the season as he pitched five innings with 10 hits, 12 runs, nin earned, two walks, and a strikeout.
The three-game series continues Saturday at Jim Perry Stadium with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
