Campbell and High Point suspended in third inning of Big South tournament opening round

HIGH POINT – Play was suspended in the third inning of Campbell's first round Big South tournament game with High Point on Tuesday with the Panthers leading 2-1. The second inning had just concluded when severe weather moved into the High Point area, forcing a postponement until Wednesday morning at 9:30 a.m.

HPU used two infield singles in the first inning to push one run across. Leadoff man Willie Medina reached on a single to shortstop and later scored on Spencer Angelis' infield single to open the scoring. The Panthers added to the lead in the second as Sean Wilson drew a leadoff walk, advanced to second on a groundout and scored on a RBI single from Mike Miedzianowski.

Campbell got one run back in the bottom of the second. David Olson led the inning off by reaching on an error. He then scored on Nick Ray's RBI double to cut the Panther lead to 2-1. HPU starter Ryan Retz struck out Erick Gaylord to end the frame and the weather delay was issued before play began in the third inning.

Each scheduled game on Wednesday will be pushed back to accommodate the conclusion of the High Point-Campbell game. An updated schedule can be found at the tournament central page here.
