Baseball travels to N.C. State on Tuesday afternoon

BUIES CREEK – Campbell (5-2) will travel to Raleigh on Tuesday afternoon to take on N.C. State (5-2). The Wolfpack are coming off a 3-2 loss to Big South member Coastal Carolina on Sunday afternoon, while Campbell shut out Fordham 9-0 in its latest outing. First pitch at N.C. State's Doak Field is slated for 3 p.m.

N.C. State has posted wins over Marshall, Youngstown State, UNC Wilmington, George Mason and West Virginia this season. The Wolfpack finished 35-27 overall last season, 15-15 in the ACC.

Freshman infielder Trea Turner and junior infielder Chris Diaz lead the offensive attack for the Wolfpack. Turner is batting .440 with 12 runs scored and eight RBI in his seven starts, while Diaz is hitting at a .419 clip with 19 total bases, nine runs scored, six RBI and three doubles.

Junior outfielder Jake Kirkland is currently tops among the Camel offensive leaders, batting .458 through seven starts. The junior from Pauline, S.C. has two doubles, two triples and 20 total bases, while holding a .833 slugging percentage.

Juniors Ben McQuown and Michael Felton are also batting over .400 for CU this season. McQuown is batting .421 with seven runs scored and five RBI while Felton is batting .407 with a team-best nine runs scored.

Last year the Camels dropped two games to the Wolfpack, losing 3-2 in Raleigh and 10-2 in Buies Creek. N.C. State leads the all-time series 31-10-1.
