Baseball travels to Duke on Tuesday

Campbell (2-1) will travel to Durham on Tuesday to face ACC foe Duke (1-2) at Jack Coombs Field on the Duke University campus. First pitch is scheduled for 3:15 p.m.

The Fighting Camels are coming off a season opening series win over Marist, as CU took two of three games from the Red Foxes. Campbell won Friday's season opening 10-3 in Matt Sergey's return to the mound for the orange and black. The two clubs then split a Saturday doubleheader, with Marist taking the first game 7-5 and Campbell winning the nightcap 9-8.

Michael Felton went three-for-three in Friday's opener during his first appearance for the Camels. The transfer from Gateway Community College belted a two-run homer and finished the weekend with a .583 batting average and .833 slugging percentage. Felton scored five runs while knocking in three RBI.

Kyle Holmstrom was eight-for-13 during opening weekend with one double, good for a .615 clip. The senior from Livermore, Calif. has scored three runs in addition to his three RBI.

Duke took one of three games over 13th-ranked Texas this past weekend in Austin, Texas. The Blue Devils defeated the Longhorns 5-2 in Sunday's series finale. Duke dropped a doubleheader to Texas on Saturday, losing by scores of 4-0 and 5-3.

Jeff Kremer leads the Blue Devil offensive attack, batting .455 through three games. Duke finished last season 26-30 overall and leads the overall series with Campbell 17-10. The teams split two games last season, with Duke winning 9-2 in Durham and the Camels taking a 4-1 triumph in Buies Creek.
