RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State prevailed 2-0 over Campbell in a pitchers duel Tuesday afternoon at Dail Softball Stadium.
Both teams combined for three hits as NC State (20-10) snapped a seven-game losing streak against Campbell (14-10).
Campbell's best chance came in the top of the second as Noemi Cortez drew a walk, Alyssa Henault singled and Savannah White reached on a fielders choice to shortstop. With the bases loaded, NC State pitcher Aisha Weixlmann managed a strikeout to end the Camels threat.
The Wolfpack responded in the bottom half of the second as pinch hitter Libby Whittaker brought in one run on a single down the left field line. NC State added another run in the sixth on a leadoff home run by Randi Farricker.
Kayla Howald allowed two hits and struck out six batters in a complete game effort for the Camels while NC State's Weixlmann struck out seven in a one-hit performance in the circle.
