Turner came to Campbell University in December of 2010 from Mercer University to work as the school's Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Promotions.
At Mercer served as the Athletics Marketing Coordinator from 2009 through the fall of 2010. While a member of the Bears staff he was responsible for generating awareness of the school's athletic programs in the Middle Georgia area with the ultimate goal of increasing revenue from ticket sales, sponsorship and advertisement. Also while at Mercer he aided the Bears develop the winning proposal to host the 2012-2013 Atlantic Sun Basketball Championship Tournament. He also provided marketing support for Mercer's Athletic Foundation activities and worked with local retailers to promote Mercer athletic events.
Prior to Mercer, Turner worked as the Special Assistant to the Athletic Director at Washington & Jefferson College from 2007-09. Among his many duties were marketing and promoting Washington & Jefferson's 24 varsity sports, aiding in identifying and obtaining corporate and local sponsorships and assisting with budget management through financial reports. He also served as the tournament coordinator for NCAA, ECAC and PAC Tournament games. While also working at Washington & Jefferson, Turner worked as part of the game day scoreboard staff for Major League Baseball's Cleveland Indians from 2007-09.
The former collegiate wrestler worked as a Graduate Assistant Coach at Kent State University from 2005-2007, while working towards his master's degree in sports administration.
Turner has also gained experience in his professional career through an internship working with a minor league baseball team, Altoona Curve, and as a production assistant for ESPN.
Turner attended Pennsylvania State University (Penn State) as an undergraduate from 2000-2005. He earned bachelor degrees in communications and American studies while at Penn State and graduated in 2005 with each. After initially walking on the varsity program he was a four-year letterwinner for the perennial wrestling power Nittany Lions. He earned the individual distinction of being named a University National Freestyle All-American in 2005. While attending Penn State, Turner also worked with the Student-Athlete Advisory Board CHAMPS/Lifeskills shadow program, hosting underprivileged children and sharing with them the student-athlete experience.
He worked as a facilitator for the NCAA Division III Leadership Conference in 2009 and was a member of the Media Relations Staff with the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championship in 2008
As Campbell's top athletic marketing officer, Turner oversees the marketing and promotions efforts for all of Campbell's 20 athletic programs including broadcasting, game promotions, print and electronic media advertising sales, licensing, and merchandising.
A native of Medina, Ohio, Turner currently lives in Buies Creek.
