Katy Tran joined the Campbell University Athletics Department as the Assistant Director for Academic Services in July 2011. She came to Campbell after completing the coursework for her doctoral degree in Sport Psychology from Florida State University.

While at FSU, Tran gained experience working with athlete to hone their mental skill in order to enhance athletic performance. She also volunteered with the Seminoles’ Student-Athlete Services Department and assisted with leadership development, career transition, and community service programs.

Prior to her time at FSU, Tran served as an assistant field hockey coach at Kent State University while earning a master’s degree in Exercise Physiology. She helped lead the Golden Flashes to a conference regular season and tournament championship and a top-20 national ranking.

Tran earned her undergraduate degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Biology and Exercise and Sport Science. She was a three-year starter in goal for the Tar Heel’s field hockey team and earned 1st Team All-America accolades her senior year. She was also named a 2nd Team Academic All-American while at UNC.

Tran works with Camel student-athletes to achieve success both in the classroom and on the field. She assists with supervising the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and coordinating community service activities, while pursuing her passion for interior design.
