Mike Collins joined the athletics staff in the spring of 2002 after serving as Director of Parks and Recreation and Cultural Recourses for the Town of Fuquay-Varina.

Collins attended North Carolina State University where he studied Turfgrass Management and Field Crop Technology. He has written articles on Turfgrass Management that has been published in newspapers and magazines. According to North Carolina Turfgrass Magazine, Collins is well known in the industry as one of the top sports turf guys in the business.

Collins is a member of the North Carolina Turfgrass Council and Sports Turf Management Association.

Mike and his wife Dena, who is a teacher at Buies Creek Elementary School, are the parents of three children, Madison, Morgan and Matthew.
