Malinda Ashcraft was named Associate Athletics Director of Academic Services and Senior Woman Administrator at Campbell University on Sept. 9, 2008.
Ashcraft, who has been a member of Campbell's Compliance and Academic Services staff since January 2008, brings two decades of administrative and coaching experience to her position. She is responsible for overseeing the University's student-athlete academic services, including the CHAMPS/Lifeskills program. As Senior Woman Administrator, Ashcraft represents the Campbell University athletic department in all Atlantic Sun Conference and NCAA matters regarding women's sports as designated by the NCAA. In addition, she serves as University Title IX Officer.
During her five year stint as head volleyball coach at Campbell, Fighting Camel volleyball players were named to the Atlantic Sun Academic All-Conference team 34 times, including a program record 10 student-athletes in 2005. Femi Alabi was also named to the Academic All-District 3 team in 2006 by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Prior to joining the Campbell athletics staff in July 2003, Ashcraft spent three years as Sport Team Director of Volleyball with Athletes In Action (AIA), coaching traveling volleyball teams and overseeing the daily volleyball operations of the Christian sports ministry, which is affiliated with Campus Crusade for Christ. With AIA, Ashcraft has traveled to Southeast Asia, Thailand, Guatemala, Ethiopia, Kenya and Nigeria.
Ashcraft spent five seasons (2003-2007) as head volleyball coach at Campbell and nine years (1990-98) in the same position at Samford University, where she left as the winningest coach in school volleyball history.
In addition to her volleyball responsibilities, Ashcraft also served as Samford's Senior Women's Administrator for the athletics department where she assisted with NCAA compliance issues and oversaw selected women's sports programs and personnel.
A 1987 graduate of Troy State with a B.S. in health, recreation and athletics, Ashcraft played for two seasons before moving into the coaching ranks as a student assistant. She went on to Mississippi State where she served as graduate assistant coach from 1987-89 and earned her M.A. in education/exercise physiology.
