FGCU Upends Women's Basketball, 76-43

FT. MYERS, FLA.-Florida Gulf Coast led wire to wire, knocking down 14 three point baskets to top Campbell 76-43 in Atlantic Sun women's basketball action Saturday night inside Alico Arena.

Campbell falls to 13-10 overall with an 8-6 A-Sun record, while FGCU moves to 19-4 and 14-1 in conference games. The Eagles are 11-0 at home this season and have won five straight.

Junior forward Lauren Yesh paced the Lady Camels with nine points and five rebounds, while freshman guard Tonisha Baker tallied eight points with a pair of steals. Amanda O'Neill and Jazmine Cooper added six points apiece.

Senior forward Chelsea Lyles and sophomore guard Kelsey Jacobson led the way for the Eagles with 16 points each, with senior guard Brittany Brown chipping in 15 points and five boards. Junior guard Shannon Murphy also notched eight points, adding 10 assists in the win.

Lyles led the Eagles to an early 19-5 lead by the 14:35 mark, posting 10 of FGCU's first 12 points. Nailing nine threes in the opening stanza, the Eagles led by as many as 25, and ended the half with a 40-19 advantage.

FGCU began the second half with a 19-0 run, with Campbell collecting its first points of the stanza on a Tonisha Baker lay-in at the 12:26 mark, as the Eagles led 59-21. FGCU ended the night with a 76-43 win.

The Lady Camels will be back in action on Thursday, Feb. 11 in Buies Creek, taking on Kennesaw State.
