Question: Name: Robert Elder City: Randleman
State: North Carolina
Comments:
Mr. Williamson
My son Brock Elder is very interested in attending Campbell University in the fall of 2006. He is very interested in several of the golf programs that Campbell has to offer. He is also a very good golfer. I was wondering who I would need to talk with to discuss possible scholarships that are available if any at Campbell.
Answer:
Mr. Elder,
Thank you for your interest in Campbell University. We are very proud of our programs and facilities surrounding golf. Keith Hills Country Club is an outstanding golf facility and we are proud of our Professional Golf Management program as well as our outstanding intercollegiate golf teams.
The individual to contact regarding participation on our golf team is our Head Golf Coach, John Crooks. Coach Crooks can be reached at (910)893-1370 or by e-mail at: crooks@campbell.edu. Coach Crooks make recommendations regarding golf team scholarships. Also, prospective student-athletes are encouraged to go to our web site, www.GoCamels.com. At our web site, then go to the sport (golf) and then click on "Recruiting" which will take you to an online questionnaire. This completed and submitted questionnaire will greatly aid our coaching staff in evaluating the prospective student-athlete's situation.
For our Professional Golf Management (PGM) program, the person to contact is the Director of the PGM program, Mr. Ken Jones. Mr. Jones can be reached at (910)893-1395 or by e-mail at: jonesk@campbell.edu. Mr. Jones can tell you more about the academic requirements and scholarship opportunities for PGM students.
Again, thank you for your interest in Campbell University. Best wishes to you and your son.

Comments:
I was wondering who was the head basketball coach and his email address so maybe I can get in contact with him on trying to get him my profile tape. I will like to also get his phone number to talk to him about what he is looking for for the upcoming season. Thank you.
Answer:

My son is a junior in high school interested in attending Campbell. He swims for Parwood High School. Are there any plans on adding men's swimming to your athletic department?
Thank you!

Mr. Johnson,
Thank you for your interest in Campbell University. We just added Women's Swimming as a varsity sport during this academic year. At this time, there are no plans to add Men's Swimming as a varsity sport.

Question: Name: Bob Smith City: Salisbury
Comments: What role do Admissions Counselors play in recruiting for the school and for the athletic programs?
Answer: Mr. Smith, Your inquiry about admissions counselors (recruiters) is an excellent question. Campbell University does have a number of counselors/recruiters who travel to various states recruiting students for Campbell University. These counselors primarily discuss the academic qualities of Campbell but also discuss the athletic opportunities at Campbell. The athletic opportunities are discussed in general terms until a potential student shows interest in a particular sport. If a potential student is interested in athletics, that counselor will pass along that student's name and information to the head coach of the appropriate sport for follow-up. Also, potential students can provide their information to the appropriate sport coaching staff through our web site (www.GoCamels.com). Our coaches serve as counselors/recruiters as well in the recruiting process as they use these resources and many others to find potential student-athletes for Campbell University. Admissions Counselors at Campbell University assist in getting the good news out about all aspects of college life in Buies Creek. However, our sport coaches do the majority of recruiting work when it involves potential student-athletes. Thank you for your question and for supporting the Fighting Camels. Best wishes for a wonderful 2005.

Does Campbell have any JV teams and what is the process if you are looking at trying to walk on.
Answer:
John,
At this time, Campbell does not have any junior varsity teams but we do permit squad sizes that allow for "walk-ons" on each of our teams. Anyone interested in participating with one of our teams should contact the head coach of that sport to inquire about the "walk-on" try-out process. Our head coach's e-mail and/or phone number information can be found on our web-site at: www.GoCamels.com.

Question:
Name: Heather Stamper
City: Hagerstown
State: Maryland
Comments:
How likely is there to be a walk on to the women's volleyball team for the fall of 2005?
Answer:
Heather,
Thank you for your question. All of our varsity teams have a few days set aside for "walk-on" tryouts. Any full-time student at Campbell University is potentially eligible to be a member of one of our teams. For those interested in trying out, I suggest they contact the head coach of that sport to find out all the details.
Specific to your question, Coach Malinda Ashcraft would be the person to talk to about volleyball tryouts. Just about every year, we have "walk-on" members of the volleyball team; this coming year (2004-05) should be no different.
We do believe that next year's team will be much improved over last year with a number of returning players and some quality additions to the team. However, there is always room for a student-athlete who is willing to put forth the hard work necessary to be a member of one of Campbell's varsity athletic teams.
Thanks and best wishes!
