NCAA Southeast Regional second round results NCAA Southeast Regional second round results

SORRENTO, FLA. – Zak Drescher shared the day’s low round and moved into a tie for fifth place Friday following the second round of the NCAA Southeast Regional men’s golf championship at RedTail Golf Club.

A sophomore from Landisville, Pa., Drescher enters Saturday’s final round as the low individual from a school that is not among the top five.  If he holds on to that slot, he would qualify to play in the NCAA National Championship, May 27-30 at Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio.

Drescher had four birdies and one eagle and his five-under-par 66 Friday was matched only by individual leader Tarquin MacManus of Arizona.  Drescher is six-under-par (70-66—136) through 36 holes on the par-71, 7136-yard RedTail layout.

Atlantic Sun Conference champion Campbell (293-281—574) moved up two spots to 11th on the team leader board following a three-under-par 281 Friday.

Host Central Florida leads the 14-school field at 23-under-par 545 (268-277), two strokes better than Arizona (270-277—547).  Top-ranked Georgia moved up to third place after recording the field’s low team score Friday (282-275—557).

Charlotte (273-285—558) is fourth, while South Carolina (273-287—560) and Kentucky (281-279—560) are tied for fifth.  The top five teams following Saturday’s final round qualify for the national tournament.

MacManus followed Thursday’s eight-under 63 with a 66 Friday stands 13-under-par (129) with a five-stroke lead over David Johnson of UCF (66-68—134).  Charlotte teammates Corey Nagy (65-70—135) and Stefan Wiedergruen (66-69—135) are tied for third place at seven-under-par.

Drescher and Tyler Neal of Arizona (69-67—136) share fifth place at six-under-par.

Campbell freshman Vaita Guillaume (76-70—146) shot a one-under-par 70 on Friday and is tied for 54th place with sophomore teammate Matt Moot (75-71—146).  Guillaume had four birdies during the second round; including his final two holes (8 and 9).  Moot finished his even-par round with a pair of birdies.

Freshman Mitch Gray is tied for 65th place (72-77—149), while senior Isak Pettersen (83-74—157) is 75th.

Campbell will start Saturday’s final round at 8:50 a.m. from the 10th tee playing with Georgia Southern and Augusta State.  Live scoring is available on-line at www.Golfstat.com.
