STATESBORO, Ga. - Campbell's swim team (3-8)
lost its dual meet to Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association rival Georgia
Southern by a 142-109 score on Friday, Nov. 6 in Statesboro, Ga.
The Camels had a total of 22 top-three
finishes and won four events on the evening.
CU swept the 500-free with sophomore Cameron Gorse winning the event (5:34.82), sophomore Missy Eller placing second
(5:51.20) and sophomore Libby Sanderson finishing third (6:03.32).
Junior Casey Umberger won the 100-butterfly
in a season-best time of 1:00.50. Her teammates freshman Kaitlyn Tunstall
(1:02.33) and senior Mary Beth Dellinger (1:03.36) finished second and third in
the event.
Umberger kept her busy meet going with a
victory in the 200 IM (2:16.77). Freshman Emma Eisler (2:21.10) finished second
and sophomore Emily Michael took third (2:22.30) in the 200 IM. Umberger also
placed third in the 100 breast for Campbell
(1:10.92)
Michael also finished as the runner-up in
the 100-breast in a season best time of 1:09.61.
The 200-free relay team of junior Ashlyn Stumpf, senior Kara Gerdeman, Tunstall and Jackie Kenline won their events
(1:41.54).
Kenline had a second-place finish in the
200-free (1:58.77) and finished tied for third in the 100-free (55:06) with
Stumpf. Stumpf added a third-place finish in the 50-free (24.89) to her meet
resume.
The 400-medley relay team of Mullican,
Michael, Umberger and Stumpf placed third (4:09.94) in their event.
Next, Campbell's swimming program heads
down to North Florida to take on the Osprey at
noon on Nov. 7.
