Men's Golf Concludes Fall Campaign with Third Place Finish at Renaissance Invitational

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Campbell University men's golf team concluded its fall campaign with a third place showing at the Renaissance Invitational, hosted by Xavier on Monday afternoon.

The Camels started out the day with a one shot lead but Indiana fired a 7-under-par round to win the tournament by two strokes at 32-under-par.  Penn State finished in second at 30-under followed by Campbell at 26-under, in the 12-team field.

Alex Martin of Indiana took home individual honors at 16-under-par for the event.  Kevin Foley of Penn State and Max McKay of Liberty tied for second at 14-under.

Four Camels finished in the top 15 led by junior Matt Moot who finished in a tie for fifth at 12-under-par.  Moot completed all three rounds under par (65-68-71-204) and led the field in par-4 scoring at 9-under. 

Vaita Guillaume (70-70-71-211) and Zak Drescher (67-69-75-211) finished tied for tenth at 5-under, and Mitch Gray (69-72-71-212) tied for 14th at 4-under-par, on the 7,026 yard par-72 Renaissance Golf Club layout.

Drescher led the field with two eagles during the event.  He recorded an eagle in each of the first two rounds.

The Camels closed out the fall season with a top four finish in each of its last four events and have had an individual finish in the top five in its last four events as well.

Campbell will get back to tournament action in February with the start of the spring season.
