FORT MYERS, Fla. - Four Camels are in the top 15 individually and Campbell has the team lead after two rounds of the Renaissance Invitational hosted by Xavier.
The Camels fired a season low round of 271 (17-under) in round number one to take a nine shot lead in the 12-team field. They followed that up with a 9-under-par 279 to finish the day at 26-under-par and one shot clear of the field. Indiana trails by just one shot with Penn State sitting in third at 18-under, eight shots back of the Camels.
Campbell junior Matt Moot shares the individual lead with Alex Martin of Indiana and Robert Karlsson of Liberty at 11-under-par on the 7,046 yard par-72 Renaissance Golf Club layout. Moot fired a career collegiate low round of 65 (-7) in round one and followed that up with a 68 (-4) in round two. He is a tournament best 7-under-par on the par 4 holes and was also 7-under on the par 5 holes.
Campbell junior Zak Drescher (67-69-136) currently sits in a tie for fifth at 8-under, just three shots back of the leaders. Drescher had two eagles on the day, one in each round. Sophomore Vaita Guillaume (70-70-140) is currently tied for tenth at 4-under-par and Mitch Gray (69-72-141) is tied for 15th at 3-under-par after two rounds.
The tournament continues with the final round tomorrow.
