UNCG Starmount Fall Classic final results UNCG Starmount Fall Classic final results

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Mary Mattson won individual honors and Campbell claimed the team trophy Tuesday after the final round of the UNCG Starmount Fall Classic women's golf tournament.

On a blustery day at historic Starmount Country Club, Campbell completed a 54-hole event it led from wire-to-wire with a tournament record 887 (296-289-302) on the par-71, 6265-yard layout.  The 887 total marked the eighth-lowest in Campbell women's golf history.

Tuesday's victory marked the 60th tournament coaching win for Campbell's John Crooks, who ranks second only to Duke's Dan Brooks (108) in tournament coaching victories among active Division I coaches.  Crooks is one of just six Division I women's coaches to reach 60 career tournament wins.

Campbell has won at least one tournament in each of Crooks' 19 seasons in charge of the women's program.  Campbell broke the tournament record of 894 set last year by UNCG and East Carolina.

Four Camel golfers placed among the top 10 and all six were in the top 24 of the 64-player field.  Playing as an individual, Campbell freshman Teresa Urquizu (74-75-72-221) finished runner-up to Mattson in only her second collegiate event.

A senior from Ijamesville, Md., Mattson claimed her second collegiate individual title and the first since she won the Shoot-out at the Legends during the fall semester (2006) of her freshman year.  After entering the final round two-under par (71-69), Mattson shot a seven-over on Tuesday to finish at 218 strokes, three ahead of Urquizu.

Mattson led the event with 34 pars and tied with teammate Sandra Angulo for the best par-four scoring (four-over) in the field.  Her eight birdies tied for second.

Urquizu tied for second with 33 pars and tied for fourth with seven birdies over three rounds.  She played the par-four holes at seven-over, 3rd-best in the event.

Campbell senior Belen Diaz Cisneros shot Tuesday's only sub-par round (one-under 70) and moved into a tie for third place (75-77-70-222).  She had seven birdies and played the par-four holes at nine over, sixth-best in the field.

Angulo tied for 10th place (74-72-80-226).  Freshman Michelle Koh, who led all golfers with 10 birdies, tied for 14th (81-73-74-228).  Junior Sarah Bejgrowicz tied for 24th (76-75-81-232).
